Last weekend Libby and I packed up and headed down to Port Aransas to celebrate her friend, Sophia's 1st birthday. Raul wasn't able to go with us because he was in New Mexico for our nephew, Daniel's high school graduation. (Congratulations Daniel!) Luckily, we didn't have to travel alone. My friend, Katy and her daughter, Harper were also going, so they piled in with us. The girls did really well on the way down, but by the end we were all ready to get out of the car! It took about four hours until we got to the ferry landing. Then waiting to get on the ferry added another 45 minutes onto the trip. Boo! Once we finally arrived at the condo Vanessa and Trey and their daughter, Sophia (Fia) and Jackie and Jorge and their daughter, Isabel were there to greet us and help us unload. I threw the enchiladas, Raul had made the night before, into the oven and had me a glass of wine or two (it was a long trip)! The babies all went to bed and the rest of us sat on the deck outside, talked, and played Apples to Apples. I could feel the ocean breeze and just relax. It was awesome!
The next day we got up, ate breakfast, played for a bit, then headed out for a day on the beach!
Libby wasn't sure what to think of the sand at first, but eventually got used to it and loved playing in it near the water. The water wasn't cold and the weather was perfect. We ate our packed sandwiches which tasted like sand after awhile and hung out a bit longer.
Nap time was approaching, so some stayed behind and some went back to the condo. Lib didn't even make it five minutes before she was out!
Later we celebrated Fia's birthday by putting the girls in matching shirts and party hats. The hats did not last long! We sang to her and ate the yummy, healthy cake, which Katy made from scratch. That night we had the same routine and sat out on the deck but this time played Catchphrase. We had some good laughs!!
The next morning we started picking up and packing up before we went to beach one last time. Fia and Lib kept themselves occupied with the high chairs!
Libby was not a fan of the water or the sand this time. She was happiest playing on the beach chair under the canopy, so that's what she did, the whole time.
We all had lunch at a local spot and headed back to Austin. Harper and Libby slept most of the way home - thank goodness!! It was a wonderful weekend with friends. Happy Birthday Sophia Lani! Can't wait for next year!!
